Gary Froiland Biography
Gary Froiland has enjoyed performing music for 43 years. He plays the 5-string banjo, the guitar, harmonica and the musical saw, plus other instruments.
Gary started a Bluegrass Band in the fall of 1979, and enjoyed doing programs with his group for many years. After getting married and having a son and daughter, The Froiland Family Band was formed and for 15 years The Froilands entertained with their music. Gary played the 5-string banjo, and his wife Elaine played the upright bass. Son Joshua played the fiddle and daughter Jessica played the guitar. They have played for such things as the Miss Minnesota pageant, the Mall of America, and at Silver Dollar City, Branson Missouri.
As time went on, the children grew up, and with The Froiland Family band coming to an end at the end of 2008, the Froilands took a 17-day tour to Japan with their music over Christmas 2008. They played 7 times in churches, three times in a hotel, and once in a public school.
Now as a one-man band, Gary has recorded his own background music along with video, so there is the full band sound plus the presence of the other "band members" by way of a screen and video projector!
